SSU Wind Invitational

Weill Hall, Sonoma State University


The Sonoma State Wind Invitational is a regional affiliate of the Music for All National Festival, sponsored by Yamaha. This year’s festival is a non-competitive, non-rated three day festival with emphasis on musical artistry and education.


This event is similar to our Fall Festival and CMEA Festival in that the Symphonic Band will perform in Weill Hall for adjudicators, participate in a clinic and view other ensembles, SSU Faculty and/or SSU Wind Ensemble performances.


WHO: Symphonic Band plus a few students from Concert Band


PERMISSION SLIPS are due TOMORROW, Wednesday, March 2nd. Parents/guardians need to sign front and back. Teachers sign back.


FIELD TRIP DAY Students should arrive in the band room no later than 8:30am, fully dressed in the concert uniform (see below) with their instrument, music, and other equipment ready to go. The entire ensemble plus chaperones will travel to SSU via bus and will return to school ~3:00pm.


CHAPERONES - Thank you for volunteering!


UNIFORM: Students will wear their Symphonic Band uniform. Black tux jacket and pants, white tux shirt, metal buttons, cufflinks, SOLID black long socks, and black dress shoes - OR - black uniform dress with black tights/long socks and black dress shoes.


Tux jackets have been issued to the Concert Band students who are performing with the Symphonic Band and are available in the band room.


>> Students may want to bring a change of clothes (and shoes) to leave in the band room depending on what they are doing after school that day.


FOOD TRUCKS will be available on site. They will accept cash or credit.


>> BRING: instrument, music, mask/instrument mask, bell covers, water bottle, snack/lunch or money for food trucks, and other equipment (rosin, reeds, oil, etc.). All belongings should be labeled with “West County High School”, please see Janis for labels.


AUDIENCES are allowed: Our ensemble will perform on Wednesday, March 9 at 11:30am.

COVID PROTOCOLS:

Students will either need to provide proof of Covid vaccination or a negative Covid test within 72 hours to Janis prior to the fundraiser.


For Adult audience members and youth 5 years of age and older:

Mask and Photo ID are required (waived for children accompanied by parent)

AND one of the following:

Proof of vaccination (See COVID Updates page for acceptable forms)

Negative PCR COVID test (48 hours prior to performance)


Patrons ages 3 to 6: Mask and negative rapid antigen test taken within 6 hours of the event, either at home or by a laboratory.


Patrons under 3: Mask required for age 2 and older. No tests or proof of vaccination are required.


PARKING: $5 at Sonoma State University
