The Sebastopol Area Chamber of Commerce has rescheduled the 100th anniversary of the Apple Blossom Parade from last April and the West County HS Marching Band will be marching down main street!

Saturday, September 18, 2021

WHO - ALL STUDENTS in Concert Band (6th period) and Symphonic Band (5th period) will march in the September Apple Blossom Parade on Saturday, September 18, 2021. Participation is mandatory/graded.

CALL TIME - ALL Concert (Band/Adv Band), Symphonic Band students and banner holders should arrive at the WCHS Band Room by 8:00 AM with their uniform on and instrument ready to go.

REHEARSALS – Marching rehearsals will take place during the school day: class time and Tutorial (T/TH 10:20-10:53am). Please encourage your students to wear or bring walking shoes, which may be stored in their instrument cubby.

UNIFORM – Please note future parades could have a different uniform. For this parade, we will have the following uniform:

  • WCHS Red & Blue tie-dye Spirit t-shirt (If the students do not have one, it will be assigned to them before the first pep band performance. $15 will be charged for lost t-shirts.

  • Dark Blue Jeans (no rips or holes)

  • Athletic/comfortable walking shoes (no neon colors or distracting designs)

SUNGLASSES – Students are encouraged to bring and wear sunglasses for the parade.

STUDENT NEEDS – Even though we march in the morning, it can get very warm. Please make sure your student has plenty of water. Students may wear sun hats during the morning rehearsal, but hats will not be allowed during the parade. Students should wear sunscreen as they will be facing the sun while practicing and while they are marching in the parade.

Students will have a short break between rehearsal and lining up for the parade and are highly encouraged to bring a breakfast/snack. By the time we finish the parade route and return to the band/orchestra room it could be as late as Noon.

CHECK-OUT - Students will need to check out with Janis/Mr. Jones after the parade. Students may be picked up at the end of the parade route (Calder Ave) or upon return to the band room.

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED – We need the following volunteers:

  • Follow the band in the parade and help when students are done marching

  • 2 pick-up trucks at the end of the parade route (Calder Ave) to collect large instruments

  • Videographer

  • Photographer

  • Donations of muffins or other breakfast items would be very much appreciated for the band that morning
