2021 Pep Band Season

Concert Band (6th period) and Symphonic Band (5th period) perform Pep Band tunes for four Varsity Football home games. These are required performances and participation is graded.


WHEN -

  • Friday, September 10

  • Friday, October 8

  • Friday, October 22

  • Friday, October 29

CALL TIME - 6:15pm which means that students need to be in the Band Room, dressed in uniform, PPE on, instrument ready to go BEFORE 6:15pm.


LYRES - All students must acquire their own lyres for their instrument (except flutes, strings, and percussion). Please bring instruments to a local store such as Stanroy Music to be fitted for a proper lyre before September 10. Lyres may also be purchased online.


FLIP FOLDERS - Flip folders are provided for all instruments, however, our supply is getting very low. If your student was in the music program 2018-2021, please find and bring in the flip folders previously issued ASAP.


UNIFORM -

  • Black WCHS MUSIC Hoodie

  • WCHS red and blue tie-dye spirit shirt

  • dark blue jeans (no rips)

  • comfortable athletic shoes

Spirit shirts and music hoodies have been issued to all students. If your students lose or forget to bring the t-shirts or hoodies that we issued to them, they will be charged $15/30 to replace them.


PPE - Split masks and bell covers have been issued to all students who play wind instruments. Students will be charged $10-20 for replacement PPE. Even though we will be performing outside, all students must wear masks and use bell covers at all times. Water breaks will be given and students will have a chance to eat during halftime.


BRING - Instrument, PPE, LYRE, and a water bottle. Students are also welcome/encouraged to bring a snack or money for the snack shack.


PICK UP - The football games usually end around 9pm, but could go longer. Students must check out with Mr. Jones before leaving after the game and tell him your ride is there. Pick up outside the Band Room. We respectfully ask the parents to wait outside the band room due to Covid safety.


CHAPERONES - Three chaperones are needed for each Pep Band game. If you can chaperone, please contact Janis - jsnyder@wscuhsd.org


OTHER SPORTS - If your student is participating in school sports and cannot make the 6:15 call time, please have your student contact Mr. Jones to work out an alternate arrangement. JV football players should meet Mr. Jones in the stands in the second quarter and a chaperone will accompany them to the band room to get their instrument.
