If your student is Interested in finding out more about Pit Orchestra for Chicago, they should attend the informational meeting this Thursday, January 9th during Tutorial, 7:35-8:05am.

Exciting News from Mr Jones!

Hello Analy Band and Orchestra Families!

I wanted to share some exciting news!

The Analy High School Jazz Band will open for the King Street Giants at an all-ages show on Thursday Jan. 30th at 7:30pm at the Mystic Theater in Petaluma.

A portion of the proceeds will go to the Analy Band Wagon. This will not be a graded/required show for Jazz Band students, but it is a chance to play on a great stage and theater setting.

More information coming when we return from break. If you have a student in Jazz Band, please determine if they will be able to perform this show and let Janis or myself know asap when we return to school.

Mattress Fundraiser Update

Thank you to everyone who participated in the mattress fundraiser this year!  We couldn’t do it without your help to spread the word, find people to attend the sale, put up yard signs, distribute flyers/posters, perform on the radio, and wear mattress costumes!  Thank you so much to everyone who braved the downpour to come out to the sale and especially to those who purchased mattresses and accessories.

This year ABW earned just over $4000 at the mattress fundraiser!  A bit under budget, but not too shabby considering the proximity to the teacher strike and the downpour on the day of the mattress sale.  It’s also the least labor intensive of all our fundraisers!  15 Students will receive Amazon gift cards for referring people who purchased mattresses!

We plan to have this fundraiser every year, so please keep informing people about our sale, especially if they talk about needing a new mattress!  Our next
mattress sale is tentatively set for early December 2020.  These fundraisers can become very, very successful when the whole community can plan in advance to purchase at our annual mattress fundraiser while supporting a great cause like the Analy Band and Orchestra Program!

Could you please help us by picking up the yellow yard signs?  It made us so happy to see the yellow signs around town, but this year’s sale is now over.  Please collect the ones you put out, or if you pass by a sign, we’d appreciate your help in stopping to pick it up.  Signs can be re-used or recycled, but we do not have room for anymore in the band room.  Thanks!

Reminders – Winter Concert tomorrow!

Call Times – please be in the band room, fully dressed in the uniform, ready to go.
5:30pm: Concert Band and Full Orchestra
6:15pm: Symphonic Band and Jazz Band

Snack TableLast names A-M, bring one dozen treats for the snack table.

Jazz Band Parents – CMEA Jan 17, 2020

Jazz Band Parents –

Friday, January 17, 2020 is the CMEA Jazz Festival at Sonoma State University.  And it’s right around the corner!  We need 2-5 additional authorized parent drivers to register with the district to transport jazz band students and instruments to and from the festival.  The best part is, you’ll be able to see the students perform in the amazing Weill Hall!

Please use the attached form HERE to become approved to drive with our district.  You will need to include a copy of your evidence of insurance.  If you can become an approved driver, please contact Janis asap – coordinator@analybandwagon.org and let her know how many students you can transport.  Please submit the paperwork to Janis by Wednesday, December 18, 2019.

We will leave AHS at approximately 9am and return around 2 or 3pm.  We will have an exact time schedule when we return from break.

All students enrolled in zero period jazz band will be graded for attending and performing at this event.  If your student cannot miss classes on Friday, January 17th, they should contact Mr. Jones immediately.

Full Orchestra – cancelled tonight

Full Orchestra rehearsal has been cancelled for tonight, Mon Dec 9th so that Mr. Jones can rest up and feel better. Students should practice at home tonight.

ALL Full Orchestra (Strings, Winds & Percussion) should attend BOTH Tutorials this week: Tues. 12/10 & Thurs 12/12 7:35am-8:05am.

If your student cannot attend the tutorials, please let Mr. Jones know: jones@analybandwagon.org.

Mattress Fundraiser – TODAY ONLY

Saturday, December 7th
10am – 5pm in the AHS Cafeteria

We know it’s going to be raining, but please encourage those you’ve talked to about the mattress fundraiser to brave the weather and come on out! It’s ONE DAY ONLY!

There will be great deals on mattresses and accessories! And I just saw a fantastic massage chair that everyone can test out! And the best part is of course the money that will be raised for the Analy HS Band and Orchestra Program to support our wonderful students!

Students: there are plenty of mattress costumes and signs to hold. There will even be a canopy to protect you from the rain! The more the merrier!

Please help us make this a successful fundraiser!

PS – Did you hear the Jazz Combo play on KSRO yesterday afternoon to promote the mattress fundraiser? They did a fantastic job!

All Parents – Winter Concert Info

Hello Bands & Orchestra Families,

You are cordially invited to attend the Analy Bands and Orchestra Winter Concert 2019!  We can’t wait for you to see the progress that all the students have made this year!

The Concert is next week, Friday, December 13th at 6:30pm in the Analy Auditorium.  Adults are $7, Students & Senior Citizens are $5 and children under 5 are free. The concerts are an important fundraiser for the Band and Orchestra program, so please invite all your family and friends!

We need parent volunteers to help with ticket sales, door monitors, and snack tables.  If you would like to volunteer, please contact Janis at coordinator@analybandwagon.org or call 824-2337.

Also, families with the last names that start with A-M, we ask you to bring 2 dozen treats the night of the concert.  Treats can be dropped off at the downstairs snack table (by the administration offices) prior to the concert.

Band & Orchestra students will wear their Concert Attire:

Concert Band: ALL black closed-toed shoes, ALL black socks (calf length), black tuxedo pants, white tuxedo shirt (make sure it is ironed), royal blue cummerbund, royal blue bow tie, 3 shirt studs and 2 cuff links.

For Symphonic Band and Orchestra students concert attire includes a black tuxedo jacket and/or black dress with black tights and closed-toe black shoes.

Please have your student check NOW to make sure they have all the pieces of their concert attire and that they fit properly.  If your student has a uniform piece that does not fit, please dry clean it before returning and a new piece will be issued.  Please DO NOT wait until the night of the concert to replace missing or
ill-fitting parts of your student’s uniform.

Call time for Concert Band and Full Orchestra, is 5:30pmSymphonic and Jazz Bands should arrive no later than 6:15pm.  Symphonic and Jazz should go straight to the theater and be seated in the designated section.

It is expected that all band and orchestra students will stay for the entire concert to support their peers and build camaraderie.  Please plan accordingly to enable your student to be here from beginning to end.  Your student should let Mr. Jones know immediately if they cannot stay for the entire concert.
